If you pass through Popley you
will see that the scaffolding is coming down so that the roof can be put onto
the office and sacristy areas. Inside the church the ceiling 'cone' is being
put in place as the scaffolding is removed. The works have experienced delays
and the 'handover' is now scheduled for the 23rd June!
BLESSING OF FOUNDATION STONE
AND NEW CHURCH
THURSDAY 25TH
MAY at 7:30 PM
The blessing of the foundation stone and
the church complex by Bishop Crispian will still take place on
Thursday, 25th May at 7.30 pm (the Feast of St Bede). As the site will still be
in the hands of the builders health and safety regulations will apply! As of
yet we do not know the maximum number of people we will be allowed to have for
the blessing (we have been told that we will probably be allowed a couple of
hundred!). We need to know who wishes to go!
If you would like to come along to the
blessing by the Bishop (also an opportunity to see the new complex for
the first time) please inform the Parish
Office - stating your name and phone number. If
we are oversubscribed we will pull names out of a hat!!!!
Although the church is not complete
we are proceeding with the blessing as the foundation stone has 25th
May 2006 on it!!!!! You win some you lose some!!!
If you would like to be involved in leading
the singing there will be practices at Holy Ghost - to be published
in the newsletter.
As it will still be a building
site we will have to stand for the service (so bring a 'shooting
stick'!). Also small children will not be allowed on site (for obvious health
and safety reasons!).
Please note: the Dedication (consecration) will take place on
Saturday 2nd December. Also note that
the 25th May is the Feast of the Ascension but the blessing is not a
Mass!!!!!!!!
